On Harry, Hermione, and Ron's quest to save the Sorcerer's/Philosopher's Stone from Professor Quirrell and Lord Voldemort they must pass through a series of magical challenges - one of my favorites being Professor Flitwick's flying keys. While coordinating the magic broomsticks you'll need to actually capture them is up to you, below are instructions on how to make your own enchanted keys!

How to:
This is one of the easiest projects I did - I think it only took me about an hour to make all of them.
First you'll want to select which feathers you want to use them trim them down to the size you want - mine were around 1-1 1/2 inches each.

Once you have your feathers ready all you need to do is glue the feathers onto the key - I would recommend hot glue. I tried tacky glue but quickly realized I'd have to hold the feathers in place until the glue dried which seemed pretty time consuming. If you do go with hot glue I'd also recommend gluing around the key instead of just the spots where the feathers will be, this will help prevent the glue from peeling off.
Now that the key is assembled all that's left is to tie the fishing line onto the key - tied the line between the feathers so that the keys would hang pretty evenly.
I decided to hang my keys in a hallway from the living room to our downstairs bathroom. I also took a few and hung them randomly through the house.
*If you're opposed to using real feathers in this project you could cut feathers out of paper or use white tulle.
