Even if you haven't read the books or seen the films you've almost certainly seen pictures of Hogwarts' Great Hall with it's enchanted ceiling and candles floating above the long house tables. After seeing this pin I realized a mere muggle like me could also have these charmed candles. Below are instructions on how to make them yourself!
What you'll need:
White paint & paint brush
Hot glue gun & glue sticks
Cardboard roll of some sort
Fishing line
Needle or pin
Electric tea candle
Scissors
White paper

How To:
Okay, first: I made a lot of these a couple of weekends ago using contact paper rolls - I would definitely recommend these over toilet paper or paper towel rolls (like I used here). Turns out toilet paper and paper towel rolls have a larger circumference than you'd think and are bigger than the electric tea candles. If you're a regular person and don't have 20 contact paper rolls handy - fear not! There are just two easy extra steps to do to fit the candle.
Okay, now the actual first step: Paint your roll of choice white (or whatever color you want your candles to be). If your roll is too big for the tea candle you'll want to cut the roll like so:

I actually didn't realize the tp roll was too big until after I painted it but you could always cut the roll before you paint it - you do you. Next, wrap the roll around the tea candle so that it's loose enough for you to slide the candle in and out but secure enough that it doesn't slide all the way through. Then glue the cardboard together.
Now, take the candle out and set aside. Next up is the "dripping wax"
Use your glue gun to essentially draw wax down the sides.
When you're done, your candlestick should look something like this:
Once the glue is totally dry coat it in your white paint (I also take this time to do another coat all over the candlestick). Next cut a circle of your white paper and glue it to the bottom of the roll so you can't see up its skirt.
Finally poke a hole on either side with your pin on the upper part of the roll and thread your fishing line (length of your choosing) through them, then pop the lit tea candle on top and you're ready to hang!

You can also skip the fishing line and make magical candlesticks for your tables like these.
I hope this tutorial is helpful - I'll add pictures of the final product after my party! More projects to come!
