I love egg cartons. Not only do they hold eggs but they're also great to use for craft projects! Below are my two favorites for Halloween! These bats and spiders are really simple to make and would be a great project to do with kids!
What you'll need:
Egg carton
Black construction paper
Pipe cleaners
Googly eyes
Glue
Paint & paint brushes
Pen or pencil
Ribbon or string

How To:
The first thing you'll want to do is cut each of the cups out of the carton. I find it easiest to snip the top of the cones off then cut through them like so:
Once you have the cups cut out trim the edges so they're a bit neater (they won't be perfect and will probably be a little uneven - it's all just part of the charm!).
Now, if you're making both bats and spiders - separate which cups you want to make into spiders from the bats.
For the spiders you'll want to cut out your choice of pipe cleaners (folding one into four equal parts makes for about the perfect leg length). Next, fold them how you'd like the legs to bend then glue them onto the inside of the cup. Important: If you're using hot glue - be careful! As you're probably aware - it's hot! (If you're doing this project with children, I'd recommend gluing the legs yourself).
For the bats: Trace then cut out wings on your black construction paper then glue onto the back of your bat.
Once you've glued on the legs and wings to their respective cups it's time for my favorite part! Glue on the googly eyes and paint on the mouths! I prefer to leave the mouths off the spiders and add fangs to the bats - but do whatever you think looks best!
After your spider and bat's bodies and faces are done, simply glue your ribbon or string to their backs then hang up where you please!
